Slip into your lederhosen or dirndls, Addison Oktoberfest returns to Addison Circle Park for its 35th anniversary from September 15-18. It’s a celebration of German culture, food and, of course, beer, all with a Texas twist.
Head to the Partyhalle tent for dancing, keg banging and the mug-raising challenge or grab a drink and kids at the Draft Haus Biergarten while watching the weekend’s football matches on the outdoor screen. Kids can do arts and crafts in the Kinderzelt tent while adults enjoy beers in the Paulner Biergarten. This latest attraction will include beer-themed competitions like beer mug carrying and barrel rolling. Dog lovers can look forward to Sunday Hund-Day with the German Dog Showcase, which celebrates breeds originating from Germany, and the Dachshund Dash.
Menus will include classics like schnitzel, wurst and sauerbraten as well as local favorites like tacos and queso for dipping your pretzel. Admission is free on Thursdays and Sundays, and there’s plenty of free parking, so visitors can save their money for authentic German fare. Admission is $10 on Friday and Saturday. Children 9 and under are admitted free.
There are packages for this year’s event. Oktoberfest Packages are $40 and get admission for Friday and Saturday, plus a commemorative mug, two Paulaner beers, and a commemorative lapel pin. Bless them for keeping the pins alive. They also have Hotel packages which also include pins, but also offers on hotel rooms. They have tables for rent inside the Partyhalle Deck for $200 on Thursdays and $300 on Fridays or Saturdays. These come with eight pins.
The tickets are on sale now.
